The damage to health and nursing insurance funds caused by a mafia-like network of nursing care companies within a few years amounted to around 8.5 million euros. Since the end of last year, 230 companies across Germany have been under strong suspicion of being part of this network and of having received money for services not provided.
The Palturai BusinessGraph shows the connections between these companies at the touch of a button. This reduces the time-consuming manual research of commercial register entries to a minimum.
Palturai BusinessGraph shows connections at lightning speed
“Reports in the commercial register or in shareholder lists are not designed to make connections easy to understand. Fraudsters take advantage of this,” explains Diane Siegloch, Senior Sales Manager at Palturai and contact person for our customers in the media sector.
This is also shown by the case of the so-called “care mafia”, which caused a stir at the end of 2017. Hundreds of companies and people were convicted of fraud after lengthy investigations. They had billed for services that were never provided.
Although the fraud was not uncovered by Palturai, it would have been much quicker with us. Because here, initial suspicion against one of these companies was enough to show all the connections that stretch across the entire country. Complex shareholding structures, shared managers, dubious connections to Eastern Europe – click by click, the BusinessGraph opens up the entire fraudulent network.
In times of scarce human resources in both the media and investigative authorities, Palturai thus becomes a quick “reference work” to confirm suspicions or quickly dispel them.
