Get to know the BusinessGraph: The Shortest Path

In the Shortest Path, the connection between you and your target company/person is visualized in the form of a path. In our Salesforce app, this path is based on your linked Salesforce contacts and the Palturai Knows algorithm. The algorithm calculates the probability of two people knowing each other based on shared company activities.

For example, if your target customer has worked with one of your existing Salesforce contacts at the same time in the same company, there is a certain probability that both people could know each other. However, the likelihood of knowing each other also depends on many other factors such as company size or functional position.

Where can I find the Shortest Path?

Once you open the Palturai app in your Salesforce client, you can view the Shortest Path in two ways:

  • Open the Palturai Search or Next Best Customer to see a preview of all available Shortest Paths.
  • Open your Accounts & Contacts to see the complete view of all available Shortest Paths.

How do I use the shortest path?

Open any target customer or target contact and go to the Shortest Path tab. The shortest path is displayed here in the form of interactive paths. Clicking on companies/persons/relationships opens the Palturai Info with the corresponding details. In the example shown here, the user has clicked on the connection between two people. The right-hand side of the screen now shows how the two people know each other.

What is the added value of the Shortest Path?

The USP of Shortest Path is to increase your lead-to-customer success rate. In addition to individual factors, the type of initial contact with customers plays a major role in achieving a high rate. As you probably know from your own experience, warm introductions are usually much more successful than cold calls. However, the number of your own company’s contacts is very limited. Do you think? Your network is often larger than you think. This is exactly where Palturai comes into play.
Based on our contact network with over one billion relationships, our shortest path algorithm calculates which of your Salesforce contacts can provide you with a warm introduction to your target customer.
